Makita 5094DWD 14.4-Volt NiMH 3-3/8-Inch Cordless Circular Saw Here’s a saw packing the power of Makita and the convenience of cordless, the best of both worlds. It’s incredibly light and a cinch to handle, and at 4.6 pounds, it’s easy on the body. All the adjustments are clear and easy to change. Makita’s batteries have a great reputation for good reason—they deliver plenty of power and hold their charge. This little saw is so versatile, we can imagine using it for dozens of things: cutting sheets, trim, rows of dowels for crafters, flooring, you name it. It evens bevels to 45 degrees—we think that’s a great feature for such a small package. The clever design leaves it feeling totally balanced in your hand. You’ll find yourself reaching for it instead of the standard 7-inch saw, and it will get the job done.–Kris Jensen-Van Heste
Customer Review: Not Bad for the money!
Yes, I read a lot of reviews on this saw and the cheaper one and glad I went with this one. Although not the high speed of larger ones, I have used mine on drywall, wood, molding and backer board and all with the stock blade so I can’t complain. I really didn’t think it would do that well because you know you can’t afford to buy cheap tools and for $178 it was well worth it. Not many Mfg’s make this size saw and it’ s nice to have. Wish DeWalt would make one..
Customer Review: Unique
This is a very cool little saw, handy and well designed for thin stock, and no one but Makita makes anything like it. Only wish it took the same 18V lithium batteries as my other Makita tools - they make way too many battery types.

Makita 5090DW 3-3/8-Inch Cordless Circular Saw Kit 9.6V, 3-3/8″ Cordless Circular Saw, Cuts 33′ Of 15/32″ Plywood On A Single Charge, Tilting Base For Bevel Cutting Up To 45 Degrees, Adjustable Cutting Depth, Blade Lock For Easy Blade Replacement, Comfortable Non-Slip Grip For Better Control, Includes Battery, Charger, Combination Blade & Hex Wrench.
Customer Review: Buy a carbide blade
I bought this because it was the smallest cordless circular saw I could find. The project I bought it for was patching in old damaged siding on my house. It was a bonus that I already had a 9.6v Makita drill because you can never have too many batteries and chargers! The blade that came with it didn’t last very long so I bought a carbide tipped blade. What a difference! I was amazed at how much better it cut and how much longer the charge lasted. It also gave a wider cut so there is less chance of binding.
Customer Review: Ditch the stock blade.
Like many others, I originally bought this saw for cutting in close on old work drywall. Battery life sucked with a Low battery after cutting around ONE Patio Door.
I replaced the blade with a Carbide tipped one and now this saws cuts faster and many feet longer through a wide variety of materials.

Customer Review: Not Perfect, but as good as I have found
I have a few reciprocating saws (all “top of the line”), this one, the SawZall (13 AMP and rotating) and the Hitachi 12 AMP. I think this saw is the best of the group - but still not what I expected. After about 2 months of use this saw broke on me. The motor still turns but the shaft does not move in and out. This saw when it works is very good, cuts well, and the case is nice (I like that it is heavy). Truth be known I do not think any of the reciprocating saws are made with the quality of my original all metal Sawzall. I do not think any saw today is made for professional use and regular demolition work. As far as durability, this unit is made in China, the rubber boot on the blade changing mechanism will break off within about 20 uses (my Sawzall took 1/2 that time to break, my Hitachi still works, my original sawzall still works - 2 repairs in 25 years). The saw gets very hot during prolonged use (the rubber boot on the blade changing piece is there so you can touch it and change the blade because it gets too hot to touch. I think it needs a better mechanism to connect the reciprocating arm to the motor. The arm should go back and forth - no matter what and should stay aligned (the saw does not do anything else!). From what is available today, this unit is probably best of bread and is fine.
Customer Review: Outstanding product
I’ve been using this tool almost daily for awhile now and it still impresses me. The antivibration technology is unmatched. Everyone who used this tool wanted one of their own.
