Customer Review: Bosch 1294VSK Detail Sander works great!
After comparing several detail sanders, I decided to get this Bosch kit and I have not been disappointed! This sander is well built, durable, and easy to use. I have used this sander on a number of projects already and absolutely love the performance it provides. It sands quickly and effortlessly even on hardwoods like oak. Changing out the backing pads is so easy and requires no tools. I had to do some searching to find replacement accessories for it but finally found everything at circlesaw.com. I use extra backing pads to hold different grits of sanding paper triangles. When I switch from a heavy or medium grit paper to a finer grit paper, I simply replace the pad equipped with the desired grit instead of peeling the paper off of the pad and replacing it with the proper grit paper. It makes switching back and forth with different grits of paper easier and faster. For small projects, that is not an issue. Amazon.com has this sander attractively priced and the sander provides a lot of bang for the buck.

Each year for Christmas it’s my job to find the perfect “power tool” for my boyfriend. I cannot tell you how pleased he has been with this year’s gift, his Bosch sander. Not only did we get the Christmas morning whoops of joy, but I hear about this project or that project on a weekly basis – so he must love it. Now if any of you out there can help me get him to understand that we ladies like jewelry as much as men like power tools, I’d appreciate your input.

Customer Review: Excellent Middle-of-the-Road Tool
I acquired mine for $20 at a pawn shop. (Price tag on the case read “drill-bit set” cashier opened the case… chuckled and said “well that’s a good deal”)

Excellent tool for general use. I use it as a cable installer about 95% of the time, only once in a while do I have to bust out my “real” drill, and that’s usually because I’ve run the battery down and have no time to charge it. I would definitely pay the usual 70-90 for it.

This thing is heavy in a sense of well made construction(Quality). I had other drills before none compare to this. This drill will eat $200 overrated drills. Customer Review: A smooth operator
I have only used two ROS in my shop. This is a comparison of those for fairness. I had a 5″ Ryobi ROS for several years. After the bag developed a hole in it and the pad came loose several times, I needed a new ROS. I purchased the Bosch and could not believe the difference. The Bosch was so much easier to control, it didn’t walk, and the vibration was far less. More importantly, the results were outstanding. It leaves a silky smooth finish on my projects. I am very hapy with my ROS’s performance and price.
Customer Review: poor durability and dust collection
I chose this sander based on a top review from fine woodworking, and as a woodworker, cabinetmaker and finish carpenter, my sanders get a fair amount of use. I like how it feels in my hand, most RO sanders are too big on top- unfortunately, that’s about the only good thing I can say about it. The dust collector has never worked- I can sand all day, and barely anything makes it into the canister- my old dewalt with a cloth bag worked much better. The other problem is durability- in just over a year, I’ve replaced the hook and loop pad three times, and now the bearing for the orbit action has gone out, and the pad wobbles instead of sanding flat, resulting in a poor finish , and lots of vibration and torque. And you can’t replace the bearing without replacing the entire fan/spinning assembly. I own a lot of bosch tools, but I feel like I’ve been throwing money and parts at this thing since I bought it. I just replaced it with a makita, and the dust collection is superb.
